Half of all mental health conditions start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated. For a young person with symptoms of a mental disorder, the earlier treatment is started, the more effective it can be.
Accredited by The Joint Commission
In early adolescence, most teens will experience dramatic physical, emotional, and social changes that can leave some quite vulnerable to developing mental health & behavioural problems. Being defiant to rules, a decline in academic performance, verbal and/or physical aggression, self-harm, and social isolation are some common traits that they may display. Ignoring an adolescent’s declining mental health condition can have long-lasting negative effects on both their psychological and physical development into adulthood.
We offer extended outpatient care (PHP & IOP levels) for adolescents 12 to 17 years old. The full-day treatment programs address both their mental health conditions, and substance abuse problems in a safe, supportive, and inclusive setting.
Maximum 30 hours per week (5 days/week, 6 hrs/day).
The program length depends on each child’s specific case and needs. Upon completion, we’ll help them to transition back into the schooling system, their community, and ongoing care.

Groups, Counseling & Care
Psychiatric and Nursing Care
All teens will receive a minimum of 2 sessions weekly with our facility psychiatrist and crisis intervention on an as needed basis. Based on an initial psychiatric evaluation, recommendations for medications will be given. Onsite nursing care will be available every day to address their medical needs and to assist with medication management.
Mental Health Counseling and Intervention
Ashwood Recovery is licensed in the state of Idaho with NCQA credentialed providers that deliver teen mental health and substance use focused groups, hold individualized sessions focused on youth mental health treatment, and work closely with the facility psychiatrist.
We recommend that all teens participate in group therapy sessions as discussed with their primary counselor.
Family Healing Group
Any family member of a teen who participates in an Imagine program can attend our weekly Family Healing Group. The Family Healing Group is intended to give participants the coping tools necessary to assist their loved one as they work through their behavioral challenges. It also provides external support to family members who have already been affected by the teen’s mental health and substance use disorder.
